Defiance Part 3 (but you don’t need to read pt 1 or 2)

When Defiance was first announced I was excited. For 2 reasons.  1. We were getting a new Sci-Fi show (a dying breed of tv) and 2. We were getting a Game that would occasionally cross over with the TV show.

I'm not actually a shooty-uppy person but for some reason I am a Defiance player. What can I say? - Arktech. Some die for it – everyone kills for it.

It is described as a futuristic online open-world shooter where thousands of players scour a transformed Earth competing for alien technology. You create a unique character, play in groups and level up with diverse customization options or be slightly antisocial (which I can be from time to time) and hunt alone.  Powerful modern and alien weapons help you survive the massive battles that await in this constantly evolving online world. Immerse yourself in the world of Defiance as the game impacts, and is impacted by, the Defiance TV series.

Sounds Good to me?

Before I head into an inevitable rant let me say this - I LOVE Defiance.

Having said that - I hate the mission Bullet for a Badman (I had to get my best friends husband to get me through yeah- I cheated. What of it?!) and there are glitches.  I don't mind weapons disappearing in my hands, or chunks of the environment (usually entire bridges and stationary objects - walls etc) not loading- this is to be expected with a relatively new concept. I like to think of the Defiance Players as borderline beta testers.

And I love that you don't pay monthly for this game - you just buy the game and hop online - no hidden fees. (Oh - i'm using a Playstation 3 to play it).

But - I've had fairly big glitches; unlimited enemies respawning, missions never ending, missions not marked as Completed on my Contracts list (despite having the Item/Loot and Costumes from these Contracts), my car got wedged in a mountain, killed by an invisible enemy and Ark Codes not being acknowledged.  So I emailed Trion (the company that makes it) and each time they've released a Patch to fix these problems.

Now- is actually a great time to join Defiance as most of the bugs are gone.

The graphics are ok and the controls are great.

I  love Defiance.  Its good fun if you can get past the aforementioned mission (Bullet for a Bad B*****d) without hiring your best friends husband (who is a born hardcore gamer...which I am not)

It's roughly £20 now and thats about right for a game like this. I should warn you - it is addictive.

ps. This particular alien bug reminds me of my mum (which you may think is quite offensive...and it is - to the bug).
